PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College's Robert Bryan (Apex, N.C.) was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Defensive Player of the Week for men's lacrosse on Monday, April 14. It marks the third time this season during a span of five weeks that Bryan has earned the honor. Last week, Bryan led the Friars to their fifth-straight MAAC victory as they defeated St. Joseph's, 5-4, in Philadelphia, Pa. on April 12. St. Joseph's outshot Providence, 28-17, but Bryan posted a career-high 13 saves and picked up five groundballs to secure the win. It also marked the fifth-straight game that Bryan has held his opponent to five goals or less. With the Friars' victory over St. Joseph's, Providence clinched one of four spots in the MAAC Championship Tournament. The squad is currently in a tie for first place in the league standings with a 5-0 record. Canisius also sits at 5-0 on the year. Providence returns to action on Wednesday, April 16 against MAAC foe Marist at 3:00 p.m.
