MISSION, Kan. - The National Soccer Coaches Association (NSCAA) announced on August 8 that Providence College senior All-American Ryan Maduro (Bristol, R.I.) is among 29 players who are included in the prestigious Missouri Athletic Club's Men's Soccer 2007 Hermann Trophy Watch List. The trophy is presented annually to the top collegiate men's soccer player in the United States. Maduro becomes the first Friar ever to be included in the Hermann Trophy Watch List.

Players are selected to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List by a committee of Division I coaches who are NSCAA members. In November, the list will be narrowed to 15 semifinalists. Three finalists will be named in early December in conjunction with the NCAA Division I College Cup and will be invited to the Missouri Athletic Club on Friday, January 11, 2008. The winner of the 2007 award will be announced during a nationally-televised news conference that evening.

Maduro is one of three BIG EAST players on the Herman Trophy Watch List. Joseph Lapira of Notre Dame, who was the 2006 winner, and Julius James of Connecticut are the other two.

Maduro enjoyed a strong 2006 season as the Friars made their second consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance. He was one of 12 players to be named to the NSCAA All-America First Team, marking the second time in the 39-year history of the PC soccer program that a PC player garnered First Team All-America accolades. In all, Maduro is the third Friar all-time to be named All-American. Maduro, who also became the first PC player to be named to the All-BIG EAST First Team and garnered NSCAA All-Northeast Region First Team honors, was instrumental in leading the Friars to their best record (13-7) since 1984 and reach BIG EAST Championship Semifinals for the third time in the last four seasons. In addition, the Friars made school history when they earned their second consecutive NCAA Tournament berth for the first time ever. PC also set a school record with seven BIG EAST Conference wins. In 20 matches, Maduro recorded three goals and four assists for 10 points, which ranked fourth on the team.
