Oct. 25, 1997 Field Hockey Falls to SyracuseWagoner Breaks All-Time Season Assist MarkPROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College Friars fell to Syracuse this afternoon in the driving rain, 7-1. The loss drops Providence to 3-2 in the BIG EAST and 11-7 overall.
Syracuse scored three quick goals in the first 17 minutes of the game and added two more in the first half to take a 5-0 advantage. Sophomore Erica Hebert (Enfield, CT) scored PC's lone goal at the 24:58 mark as Paula Wagoner, made her 18th assist of the season. With that assist, Wagoner breaks the season all-time assist mark at Providence College. PC senior goalie Jamie Soteriades (Columbus, OH) made three saves and sophomore Andrea Weyl (Ridgefield, CT) made one save. Syracuse's Laura Fitzpatrick scored a hattrick for the Orangewomen and Meagan Koons scored twice. Providence plays Colgate Sunday at 1 pm to close out their home schedule.
