Sept. 27, 1997 Field Hockey Defeats NortheasternPROVIDENCE, RI -- The sixth ranked Lady Friars stopped Northeastern this afternoon, 3-2 at Hendricken Field. PC won the game on a stroke-off as Friar goalie Jamie Soteriades (Columbus, OH) stopped three consecutive stroke shots after the overtime. Providence scored early in the first half as sophomore Erica Hebert (Enfield, CT) drilled a penalty shot past Northeastern's goalie, Danielle Butsch. Hebert scored again in the first half to give the Friars a 2-0 advantage at the half. Northeastern stormed back and scored twice to knot the score. Goals were scored by Tori Calio and Jen White . Soteriades earned her fifth win of the season as she recorded 20 saves. Northeastern's Butsch recorded 15 saves. In the stroke-off, Providence scored three times with goals by Katie Lachapelle, Katie Whalen and Erica Hebert. Northeastern was shutout. Providence improves to 8-0 overall while Northeastern loses to their third ranked opponent and falls to 4-3 overall.
