Providence Field Hockey Falls to UNH, 1-0

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Lady Friars, ranked 6th in the country, lost their first game of the season this afternoon as the UNH Wildcats escaped with a 1-0 victory.

UNH, ranked 13th in the nation, scored on a penalty corner in the second half which decided the game. The goal was scored by Caroline Coyne and assisted by Selena Liubackka and Becky Craigue. The Friars out-shot the Wildcats, 15-9 and held the advantage on penalty corners, 14-6.

Providence senior goalie Jamie Soteriades made eight saves between the posts for the Friars.

Providence falls to 8-1 while UNH improves to 7-2 overall.
