Ice Hockey Gets Nipped by Cornell

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell's goal from Alison Stewart at the 6:22 mark in the second period was eventually the game-winner, which defeated Providence College in ECAC women's hockey action Saturday, February 21.

Cornell netted the first two goal's of the game from Erica Olson and Morag McPherson in the first period to take a 2-0 advantage. PC's Katie Lachapelle scored two goals of her own in the first period at the 9:58 and 12:44 mark to tie the game at 2-2. However, Stewart's goal in the second period at 6:22 gave Cornell the 3-2 win.

Cornell goaltender Alana Hayes made 23 saves in the win, while Providence goaltender Pilar Christopherson made 14 stops in the loss.

Providence College is now 8-19-2 overall and 8-10-2 in the ECAC.

The Friars return to action on Saturday, February 28 against Boston College at 1:00 p.m.
