CAMBRIDGE, MASS. (November 10, 2004) -- The Providence College women's hockey team skated to a tie with No. 3 Harvard, 2-2, on Wednesday, November 10 at Bright Hockey Center in Cambridge, Mass.

After a scoreless first period, senior Rush Zimmerman (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) wasted little time as she was the first to get on the scoreboard with a goal at 5:31 in the second period. Freshman Jenna Keilch (Clinton Township, Mich.) earned her second collegiate assist on the play. Later in the second period, Harvard struck back with a goal by senior Kat Sweet assisted by classmate Nicole Corriero and sophomore Caitlin Cahow. At 15:34, Cahow scored her first goal of the season on a power play assisted by Jennifer Skinner, to end the second period with a 2-1 Crimson advantage.

The Friars' aggressive offense paid off late in the third period when they brought on an extra attacker. Junior Karen Thatcher (Douglas, Mass.) saved the game when she scored the game-tying goal at 18:36, assisted by Zimmerman. Providence quickly brought back senior Amy Thomas (Austin, Texas) at goaltender and forced an overtime period.

The Friars were undable to capatilize on a power play situation at 2:08 in the overtime, and kept the score tied, 2-2.

Sophomore Emily Vitt made 28 saves in the game, while Thomas grabbed 31 to clinch her second tie decision of the season.

Providence will open up its HOCKEY EAST schedule against the University of Maine at the Alfond Arena on Saturday and Sunday November 20-21, at 2:00 p.m.
