Jan. 31, 1998 Providence Blanks Yale, 2-0PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Providence College blanked Yale University, 2-0, in women's ECAC hockey action at Schneider Arena on Saturday afternoon, January 31. Freshman goaltender Heather Wilcox recorded her second shutout of the season. PC's freshman Valerie Bono scored a power play goal at the 17:33 mark in the first period to give the Friars an one goal lead. Providence received an insurance goal in the third period from freshman Jessica Tabb when she netted a goal at the 10:50 mark to give the Friars a 2-0 victory over Yale. Providence goaltenders Wilcox and Pilar Christopherson stopped nine shots in the win. Yale goaltender Laurie Belliveau made 35 saves in the loss. Providence College is now 6-16-0 overall and 6-7-0 in the ECAC, while Yale is 5-11-2 overall and 1-10-2 in the ECAC.. The Friars return to action on Sunday, February 1 against the Princeton Tigers at Schneider Arena at 2:00 p.m. at Providence, R.I.
