PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College women's soccer team is pleased to announce its 2008 incoming Freshman class. Boasting five new faces with impressive high school and club soccer backgrounds, Head Coach Jim McGirr hopes to continue the winning tradition he is establishing at PC. TAYLOR BARTINI - Suffield, Connecticut Club Soccer: Played for Oakwood from 2002-03...FSA SoccerPlus 2006-present High School: Lettered in soccer, basketball, and softball during all four years at Suffield High... Also captained her soccer team in 2007 as well as her basketball team in 2007-08...Scored 86 goals during HS campaign and tallied 43 assists... Finished as the 2nd all-time leading scorer at Suffield...Named to All-State team in 2006-2007, All-Conference in 2005-2007, All- New England 2007 Personal: Daughter of Jennifer and David Bartini...Born April 10, 1990...Undecided Major Jim McGirr: "Taylor attended our camp this past year and confirmed some of the things we already knew about her. She is an outstanding athlete with great pace who has a proven track record of scoring goals. She's very versatile and can play the forward position or out of the back." EMILY CASTLE - Stonington, Connecticut Club Soccer: A four year player with South Central and four year player with Oakwood...Won state cup championship from 2002-04, 2006. High School: Lettered in soccer for three seasons and basketball for two years at Stonington High... Captained soccer team in 2006...Named to the CT All-State Team in 2006, ECC All-Conference Team for two seasons and New London Day All-Area Team for two seasons... Scored 14 goals and tallied 26 assists Personal: Daughter of Deborah and Peter Castle...Born March 12, 1990...Undecided Major Jim McGirr: "She has always been regarded as a high level player, as she was a member of the ODP Regional Team. She played for me in club soccer for FC Delco. She's very dynamic and has the ability to score goals. Laura is a player who we call a soccer junkie. She lives and breathes the game, and will go a long way to continue the change of culture here at Providence." CAITLIN WALKER - Metuchen, New Jersey Club Soccer: Four year player for the Matchfit Academy Magic High School: Lettered in soccer, track & field, and basketball for four seasons at Metuchen High School...Captained soccer, track & field and basketball during her senior season...Tallied 38 career shutouts in the net with a 0.555 goals against average...Named First Team All-State Group 1, First Team All-Division Personal: Daughter of Laurie and James Walker...Born June 26, 1990...Undecided Major Jim McGirr: "Caitlin is a goalkeeper who has great raw ability who also has a fantastic Division 1 physique. With the training she'll receive here at PC, she will develop into a top collegiate goalkeeper."
