The Providence College tennis team hosted Holy Cross in Providence, R.I. in their final match of the season on Tuesday, April 15. Prior to the match, the Friars honored seniors Kate Danaher (Norwood, Mass.), Erin Kenaga (Norwalk, Conn.), and Kate Lyons (Barrington, R.I.). Lyons, the only senior to compete on the day, won in her final match as a Friar, earning a 6-3, 6-2 victory in the No. 6 singles spot. The Friars went on to defeat Holy Cross, 4-3. Providence started the afternoon sweeping all doubles matches to earn the doubles point. Doubles play was highlighted by junior Meghan Gilroy (Fairfield, Conn.) and sophomore Jen Cusack (Bayport, N.Y.) who earned an 8-0 victory in the No. 2 spot. In singles play the Friars earned three points to seal the victory, winning in the No. 4, 5, and 6 spots, respectively. Junior Ashley Rissolo (Southport, Conn.) was leading in the No. 2 singles spot, 6-1, 4-1, when she suffered an injury and had to leave the match. The 4-3 win over Holy Cross marked the final match for Providence this season. The Friars finished the spring season with an 8-9 mark, ending with a three game win streak. Singles 1. Meahl, HC, def.
