The Providence College men's and women's track teams finished 13th and 14th, respectively, at the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships at Villanova University on Sunday, May 4. The men finished 13th after scoring 15 points. Notre Dame won the men's title with 122.50 points. The Friar women scored 23 points and placed 14th while Louisville recorded 106 points to capture the women's title.

On the final day of competition, the Friars were led by senior Ahmed Haji (West Hartford, Conn.) who finished third in the 5,000 meters in a time of 14:29.46. Also in the 5,000 meters, sophomore Michael Anderson (Ajax, Ontario) was 12th (15:05.95).

In the men's 1,500 meters, sophomore Hayden McLaren (Christchurch, New Zealand) placed fifth (3:55.58) and senior Max Smith (Dunedin, New Zealand) finished ninth (3:56.13).

The Friar men's team had three relay squads that competed on Sunday. PC's 4 x 100 squad of freshman Brian Stannard (East Longmeadow, Mass.), Isaiah Davis (Hyde Park, Mass.), freshman Teto Moulton, and freshman Lewin Richards placed 10th in a time of 43.57. Providence's 4 x 400 team of Stannard, Davis, junior Alan Pandiani (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and junior Nick Berluti (Westwood, Mass.) finished 12th (3:29.43). Lastly, the Friars' 4 x 800 team of senior Chris McDermott (West Haven, Conn.), McLaren, junior Charles Dewey (Worcester, Mass.) senior James Lourenco (West Warwick, R.I.) recorded a fourth place finish in a time of 7:32.82.

 

 

On the women's side, junior Katie DiCamillo (Garden City, N.Y.) finished fourth in the 5,000 in a time of 16:48.77. She qualified for the NCAA Regionals with her time of 16:48. Also in the 5,000 meters, sophomore Krystal Douglas (Harpswell, Maine) placed fifth (17:03.63) and sophomore Breffini Twohig (Dublin, Ireland) finished eighth (17:23.62).

PC's 4 x 800 meter relay squad of junior Katie Elliot (Penfield, N.Y.), junior Katherine Schock (Norwood, Mass.), freshman Emma Perron (West Hartford, Conn.) and sophomore Samantha Stadt (Pearl River, N.Y) recorded a 10th-place finish in a time of 9:09.28.
