New Britain, Conn. - The Providence College volleyball team was defeated by Central Connecticut State, 3-1 on Wednesday, November 7. Central Connecticut State won the match by the scores of 30-20, 30-15, 27-30, 30-26, and 30-27. The Friars end the regular season with a record of 18-10.

After trailing two games to zero, the Friars battled back with a tough 30-27 game three victory. In game four, Providence took a 26-22 lead before seeing Central Connecticut State fight back with eight straight points to take the game and the match, 3-1.

Senior Sarah Fleming (Saint Paul, Minn.) led all players with a match-high 20 kills. Junior Jeanette Toney (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was also in double figures with 12 kills. Junior setter Sara Sheehan (West Chester, Pa.) tallied 45 assists to go along with six kills.

Providence will travel to Orem, Utah for the Division I Independent Tournament. The Friars will play Texas Pan-American at 9:00 a.m. and Utah Valley State at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 16. On Saturday, November 17 Providence will play one match against an opponent to be determined.
