The Providence College volleyball team signed Lauren Fletcher (Syracuse, N.Y.) for the 2008 season on Monday, April 14. She joins three already signed players Carly Morrison, Lauren Hendel and Chelsey Thompson.

Lettered in volleyball at Marcellus all four years...Also lettered in soccer and softball for two years...Played for the Onondaga volleyball club team for five years...Captained her volleyball team in her senior year...Named Section Player of the Year and team MVP junior and senior year...Named first-team all-state, all-section, and all-league 2006-2008...Owns single season and career records for kills and blocks... Led her team to Sectional and League championships three out of her four years including a 21-0 season ending with a Regional championship...High honor roll all four years... National Honor Society member...

Head Coach Margot Royer's comments about the newly signed athlete:

"Lauren is a very strong hitter who also blocks very well. We expect that she will continue to keep us tough to defend from the middle blocker position in years to come. Her height is a huge advantage at this level. That, combined with her upper body strength, makes her a steal for us."
