Senior Sarah Fleming (Saint Paul, Minn.) and junior Elizabeth Flynn (Bellerose, N.Y.) were named to the 2007 Division Volleyball I All-Independent First Team in a release on Thursday evening, November 15. Juniors Sara Sheehan (West Chester, Pa.) and Jeanette Toney (Brooklyn, N.Y.) were named to the All-Independent Second Team. Junior Kelly Krahenbuhl (Larkspur, Colo.) earned an honorable mention.

Fleming, a senior co-captain, is having the best season of her career with a career-high and team-high 372 kills. In addition, she also has stepped up defensively tallying 213 digs as well as 64 blocks. Sarah ranks at the top of most offensive categories among all Division I Independent players.

Flynn is enjoying a rebound season after missing half of last year with injury. She is surely taking advantage of being a go-to middle hitter with 357 kills and a league high hitting percentage of .363. That mark also ranks her 41st in the nation for hitting percentage. Elizabeth has tallied 86 blocks this season which is good for second on the team and fourth in the league.

Sheehan has been running an efficient Friar offense for two straight years has led PC to one of the highest hitting percentages (.238) in recent years. Sara has 1094 assists, which surpasses her total of 1072 from last season, and still has three matches remaining. She needs just 119 assists to move into fifth on the all-time career assists leaders. Sheehan also has a team-high 47 aces that ranks her 51st in the nation with an ace per game average of .47.

 

 

Toney has been a solid force at the net as a middle blocker registering a team-high 110 blocks for an average of 1.11 blocks per game. Jeanette has recorded 313 kills thus far which is good for third best on the team and in the league. She also has a solid hitting percentage of .266 that ranks her fifth out of all independent players.

Krahenbuhl tallied 347 digs which is best on the team and fifth in the Independent league. She has a digs per game average of 4.34.
